Canadian festival Hot Docs is to spotlight documentaries from India as part of its upcoming ‘Made In’ program, taking place during its 2015 edition.

Ahead of the the Made In India filmmaking showcase in spring 2015, Hot Docs president Chris McDonald will join the Ontario Media Development Corporation (OMDC) and Telefilm Canada delegation at the Film Bazaar and the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in Goa.

Also headed to India as part of a trade mission in the wake of Ottawa and Mumbai signing an international film coproduction treaty is Sheila de La Varende, director of international promotion at Telefilm Canada, and Karen Thorne-Stone, president and CEO of the OMDC.

Indie producers joining the delegation include Alfons Adetuyi of Inner City Films, Paula Devonshire of Devonshire Productions, and Karen Franklin and Ralph Holt of Hill 100 Productions.

They will be joined by Blue Ice Pictures’ Daniel Iron, Mehernaz Lentin of Industry Pictures, A71 Productions’ David Miller, Damon D’Oliveira of Conquering Lion Pictures, Trinetra Productions’ Rama Rau, and Sergio Navarretta of Platinum Image Film.

Rounding out the Canadian delegation in India is Miranda de Pencier of Northwood Entertainment, Kelly Balon and Anand Ramayya of Karma Film and Vic Sarin of Sepia Films.

The producer and executive delegation will take part in the fourth Forum of the Canada-India Business Council from November 17-19 in Mumbai, and the eighth Film Bazaar from November 20-24 in Goa.

Earlier this year, Canadian actor-director Arjun Sablok was appointed the special envoy for film to India by the government of British Columbia. In the unpaid role, Sablok is an ambassador for the B.C. film industry in India, and is responsible for promoting the B.C. film industry in India.
