Distributor Magnolia Pictures International has inked deals in Australia, Canada and the UK for Albert Maysles’ fashion documentary Iris (pictured).

The doc looks at New York fashion icon Iris Apfel, known for her over-the-top style, and was picked up by Magnolia in October shortly after its world premiere at the New York Film Festival earlier in the month.

Dogwoof has taken all rights to the film for the UK, while Canada’s Kinosmith and Australia’s Madman Entertainment also picked up complete rights for the doc. In addition, the distributor is currently negotiating several multi-territory pay-TV deals.

The film – which traces Apfel’s upbringing from a middle-class Queens neighborhood to a career in high-fashion in Manhattan – enjoyed its international premiere at IDFA last Thursday (November 20). It was produced by Laura Coxson, Rebekah Maysles, and Jennifer Ash Rudick, and will be released theatrically in the U.S. in April.

All sales were negotiated by Christina Rogers of Magnolia Pictures International.
