Sporting a new look, a new logo and some new programming, Discovery Networks will relaunch Discovery HD Showcase in Europe, Africa and the Middle East on December 1.
To be known as Discovery Showcase HD, key shows from Discovery Channel, Animal Planet, Discovery Science, TLC, ID and ID Xtra will be mixed in with exclusive and unique content that airs in more than 120 different markets.
Animated logos, promo end-boards and bumps will highlight the new look, the company said.
Programs joining the expanded line-up include Alaska Monsters, about a team investigating the Alaskan forest in an attempt to trap mythical monsters; Cold River Cash, which finds three teams of fishermen competing to catch baby glass eels; and Beasts of the Bayou, which follows Captain Blimp Cheramie and his two-man crew through the marshes of Venice, Louisiana, looking for legendary creatures.
Also appearing on the network will be Billy Bob’s Gags to Riches, in which burgeoning gag-gift merchants pitch their ideas to Jonah White, the founder and CEO of gag-gift empire Billy Bob Teeth.
“I am convinced that audiences with an appetite for diverse, high quality factual programming and a passion for unmatched clarity of image and sound will find themselves at home on the new Discovery Showcase HD,” Discovery Networks EMEA’s director of passion brands Unai Iparragirre said in a statement.
