Renewed and returning: “Little Women: LA,” “Sister Wives”

In this week’s round-up, renewals are in store for Lifetime’s Little Women: LA (pictured) and National Geographic Channels International’s Science of StupidStreet Genius and Ultimate Survival Alaska. Other returning shows include WE tv’s Marriage Boot Camp: Reality Stars and TLC’s Sister Wives.

U.S. net Lifetime is bringing back Little Women: LA for a second season on January 1 at 9 p.m. EST/PST. The Kinetic Content-produced series follows a group of friends who all have dwarfism, and will this season prepare to welcome a baby into the fold.

National Geographic Channels International has also ordered second seasons of both IWC Media’s Science of Stupid and Renegade Pictures’ Street Genius. While the former explains the science behind amateur stunts, the latter series transforms everyday objects into science experiments. Both series will  debut on National Geographic Channel in 170 countries in early 2015, with Street Genius also premiering in the U.S. next spring.

In other Nat Geo news, the net has signed on for a third season of Ultimate Survival Alaska, which returns on January 4 at 9 p.m. EST/PST. The Brian Catalina Entertainment-produced show features four teams who are each given extreme challenges to complete over the course of the season. The team that finishes the most legs of the competition – there are 13 in all – win the series.

Meanwhile, WE tv will bring back Marriage Boot Camp: Reality Stars for a second season on January 9 at 9 p.m. EST/PST. The series features five couples, including Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt as well as Aviva and Reid Drescher, who try and resolve their issues through therapists and Boot Camp directors Jim and Elizabeth Carroll. The series is produced by Thinkfactory Media.

Finally, TLC will see the return of its family series Sister Wives on January 4 at 9 p.m. EST/PST with a two-hour season premiere. The forthcoming season features eight episodes in which the family’s daughters graduate high school and the group contemplates a new business opportunity. The show is produced by Figure 8 Films in association with Puddle Monkey Productions.
