U.S. arts net Ovation is set to premiere two original series in the new year, including music-themed program On the Record with Mick Rock and culture series American Canvas.

The latter, Ovation Studios-produced series will be hosted by TV presenter Dave Holmes (pictured), who will explore the hidden art and culture of U.S. cities such as San Francisco, Austin and Miami. American Canvas premieres on February 25 at 10 p.m. EST/PST.

Meanwhile, On the Record features veteran rock ‘n’ roll photographer Mick Rock visiting various cultural capitals with musicians including singer Josh Groban and U.S. rock band Kings of Leon, among others. The series – produced by RCG Productions and Tricon Films – will debut on March 18 at 10 p.m. EST/PST.

Elsewhere, Ovation has signed on for a fourth season of the visual arts series The Art Of, which profiles unique art forms, and is set to come back on January 7 at 10 p.m. EST/PST.

“It’s very encouraging that even in the challenging and ever-changing media environment we’re in now, an independent network like Ovation can thrive,” said Scott Woodward, senior VP of programming and production at Ovation, in a statement.

“Being the only network dedicated to the arts differentiates Ovation as a unique offering on the cable line-up, and our original programming is helping us further define our identity and broaden our appeal with viewers,” he added.
