U.S. net A&E is to follow a team of New Orleans-based emergency responders during their overnight shifts in the forthcoming series Nightwatch, premiering in January.

The show was previously announced as a pilot in May, and has now received a season order for nine hour-long episodes to be produced by Wolf Reality and 44 Blue Productions.

Nightwatch focuses on various sets of police officers, fire fighters and emergency medical technicians in the New Orleans area who work between the busy hours of 8 p.m. and 4 a.m., answering as many as 1,000 emergency calls a night.

A&E is currently working with Wolf Reality – headed by Law & Order producer Dick Wolf – on the series Dead Again, and the net previously teamed up with 44 Blue Productions for family business series Wahlburgers and the forthcoming docuseries Donnie Loves Jenny.

Nightwatch debuts on January 22 at 10 p.m. EST/PST. Executive producers for Wolf Reality are Wolf and Tom Thayer, while Rasha Drachkovitch is exec producing for 44 Blue Productions. Executive producers for A&E Network include Shelly Tatro, Drew Tappon, Lily Neumeyer and Devon Graham.
