Golden Globe-nominated actor Ewan McGregor has been recruited by MacGillivray Freeman Films to narrate its 3D underwater adventure documentary Humpback Whales.

Directed by Oscar-nominated filmmaker Greg Macgillivray (The Living Sea, Dolphins, Everest), Humpback Whales is the large-format film company’s first entertainment-focused film on the mammals.

Filmed for Imax and other giant screen theaters using 15 perf/65mm Imax cameras, Humpback Whales follows the rebound of the nearly extinct species and how they were rescued from the brink of destruction.

Produced by Shaun MacGillivray (To the Arctic, Grand Canyon Adventure) and written and edited by Stephen Judson, Humpback Whales is scheduled for release on February 13.
