Smeenge named Zodiak Nederland CEO

Zodiak Media’s Holland-based head of development Jan Hendrik Smeenge has been upped to CEO of Zodiak Nederland, replacing current CEO Peter Lubbers, who is departing the company next month.

Smeenge joined Zodiak in 2014 with the task of initiating and creating new developments within Zodiak Nederland’s development team and bringing international formats to the Dutch market.

Smeenge will report to Zodiak Nederland’s group chief executive Marc-Antoine D’Halluin, and to Zodiak UK, Belgium and Netherlands CEO Rod Henwood.

“He is the ideal candidate to continue to take the company forward and will be able to hit the ground running,” said d’Halluin in a statement.

“In his short time with the company, he has already received major successes, winning new commissions across several genres, including the Zodiak format Trash or Treasure, which has become a major hit in Sweden.”

In addition to Trash or Treasure for SBS, recent commissions for Zodiak formats include a third season of Celebrity Wife Swap for RTL, a fourth season of MasterChef for SBS6, Obsessive Compulsive Cleaners for SBS6 and Shopping Addicts for RTL5.
