London-based distributor DRG has promoted Noel Hedges (pictured) to executive VP of content, effective immediately.

In this newly created position, Hedges will be responsible for driving DRG’s content strategy, implementing long-term development deals and negotiating and obtaining acquisitions.

Previously DRG’s head of acquisitions, Hedges will also manage a team of genre specialists and manage the distribution of funds from financial backer Modern Times Group (MTG) to support DRG content purchases.

In a statement, DRG COO Richard Halliwell said: “Following investment from MTG last year, DRG is in a very strong position to continue to grow its unique offering as an expert distributor of world class content across factual, fiction and formats. Noel has been instrumental in ensuring we have incredible content to offer broadcasters and has established strong relationships with some of the best creative talent from around the world.”

DRG is part of the Nice Entertainment Group, which was purchased by MTG in 2013.
