UK indie Plimsoll Productions is planning to launch a West Coast office this spring, based in Santa Monica.

CEO Grant Mansfield (pictured) and exec VP of international production Andrew Jackson will oversee the office from abroad, in a bid to expand the company’s reach into reality, wildlife and adventure programming in the U.S.

Among the first orders of business will be finding an American home for Big Family Mansion, which was commissioned last November by UK terrestrial ITV.

“It’s a producer’s dream to create programming on both sides of the Atlantic,” said Mansfield. “And, the big social change in modern family life in both the U.S. and UK is multi-generational living. Through drama and humor, Big Family Mansion is a brand new reality format that provides a hugely entertaining window on the ups and downs of buying a home with your extended family.”
