Brian Balthazar leaves “The View” to return to HGTV

Six months after becoming co-executive producer for ABC's The View, Brian Balthazar (pictured) is leaving the daytime show to return to HGTV as VP of programming.

Brian Balthazar (pictured) is leaving The View to return to Scripps-owned HGTV as vice president of programming.

Balthazar became the ABC daytime talk show’s co-executive producer last August after serving as head of programming for AOL.

Prior to that, he was a producer, on-air personality and programming executive for HGTV overseeing reality hits House Hunters and House Hunters International. He also launched the fourth hour of NBC morning show Today in 2007.

He will return to HGTV effective March 2 and work from the network’s New York office.

British newspaper The Daily Mail broke the news of Balthazar’s departure from The View on Wednesday (February 4).
