The Weather Company has upped former senior director of original programming Lauren Frasca (pictured) to VP of original programming for U.S. net The Weather Channel.

Based in New York, Frasca’s duties will include the oversight of day-to-day operations in the development, production and scheduling of the net’s original programming. She will also continue reporting to Michael Rubin, senior VP of original programming.

In her prior role as senior director of original programming, Frasca managed long-form original programs from development through production and scheduling. Before joining The Weather Channel, Frasca held positions at NBC Universal, Wall to Wall Media and Atlas Media.

“Since joining Weather two years ago, Lauren has thrown herself into the mission of strengthening our brand in primetime,” said Rubin in a statement.

“Weather recently marked seven consecutive quarters of year-over-year growth, and Lauren’s strategic insight will be invaluable as we grow our slate with 130 hours of new programming and bring back a record nine original series,” he added.
