DIY builds “Belushi” in celeb reno series

U.S. net DIY Network is adding to its "celebrity renovation" portfolio with the Jim Belushi-fronted series Building Belushi.

U.S. net DIY Network is adding to its “celebrity renovation” portfolio with the Jim Belushi-fronted series Building Belushi. 

The Orion Entertainment-produced, six-episode series is to follow the comedian and Blues Brothers actor (pictured) – a “home renovation enthusiast,” according to the net – as he teams with experts to build a riverfront cabin in Eagle Point, Oregon.

In each episode, Belushi – who is building the retreat on 13 acres of a former 1930s Elks picnic ground – learns “to craft his vision to fit within the nature of the river country life.” The series is to debut later this year.

DIY Network’s roster of celebrity-focused, renovation-themed series include The Vanilla Ice ProjectThe Shatner Project and, as previously reported, the Mr. T vehicle I Pity the Tool.

“After all these years in show business, it’s time for me to build something new of my own,” said Belushi in a statement. “This place is miles away from show business, but it’s still going to be all Belushi – raising the roof, raising hell and going rogue on the Rogue River.”
