Esquire doc series to follow agents during NFL draft

Esquire Network has greenlit a 10-part documentary series about the world of professional football agents.

Produced by Herzog & Company/HCO, The Agent follows a group of sports agents in the lead-up to the NFL draft. Production began last September and the show is due to premiere on the NBCUniversal-owned cable net in July.

Cameras follow the agents as they negotiate contracts and endorsement deals, recruit players, and visit private clubs and training sessions to meet with scouts and veteran NFL players ahead of the draft, which takes place from April 30 to May 2

The series will star Jeff Guerriero, who has represented more than 100 pro footballers and negotiated more than 130 NFL contracts; Peter Schaffer, who has represented Hall of Fame greats Barry Sanders and William Roaf; Sunny Shah, a former Wall Street exec who is one of the youngest and most successful agents currently in the business; and Ed Wasielewski, a Villanova and Temple law school grad who has worked as an agent for 10 years.

Mark Herzog and Christopher G. Cowen are exec producing alongside Media Verite’s Vincent DiPersio and Josh Maman. HCO’s Nicole Zien serves as co-executive producer.
