GRB picks up eight OWN titles

Reality hits Deion's Family Playbook and Welcome to Sweetie Pie's (pictured) are among eight OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network titles that distributor GRB Entertainment has added to its catalog.

Distributor GRB Entertainment has added eight OWN: Oprah Winfrey Network programs to its unscripted catalog.

The additions include seasons one of hit reality shows Deion’s Family Playbook (16 x 60 minutes), which stars former football and baseball player Deion Sanders; and Welcome to Sweetie Pie’s (22 x 60 minutes, pictured), which follows former singer Robbie Montgomery as he opens a soul food restaurant.

Other series covered in the deal are 2 Fat 2 Fly (9 x 60 minutes), about a food truck business; Flex & Shanice (17 x 60 minutes), about actor Flex Alexander and “I Love Your Smile” singer Shanice; seasons one and two of Raising Whitley (season 1A – 9 x 30 minutes; season 1B – 10 x 60 minutes; season 2 – eight x 60 minutes), starring comedian Kim Whitley; and Blackboard Wars (six x 60 minutes), a documentary series about a principal on a mission to turn around his struggling high school’s troubled reputation.

Finally, GRB Enteratinment has also acquired the specials Knight Life with Gladys (one x 60 minutes), about soul singer Gladys Knight; and Michael Sam (one x 65 minutes), a doc about the first openly gay player in pro football.

The unscripted titles join three scripted OWN programs – the Tyler Perry comedies Love Thy Neighbor and For Better or Worse and drama The Haves and The Have Nots – in the GRB catalog.

The Discovery-owned cable net recently ordered additional episodes of Flex & Shanice and Welcome to Sweetie Pie’s and renewed Deion’s Family Playbook for a second season.
