International distributor Zodiak Rights has inked a first-look development deal with New Zealand prodco 2B Media.
Founded in 2011, the company specializes in factual, ob-docs and reality programming, and is helmed by former Great Southern Film & Television exec Martin Cleave. 2B Media-produced programs to come to MIPTV in Cannes under the deal include Beauty & The Beach (10 x 45 minutes),Grand Slam Fishing (13 x 45 minutes) and Code 1 (series three, 10 x 30 minutes) for TVNZ.
The factual series Beauty & The Beach centers on those who undergo plastic surgery operations performed in world-class hospitals and recuperate in five-star hotels. Zodiak Rights is representing the program both as finished tape and format.
Meanwhile, Grand Slam Fishing – presented by fisherman Darren Cleave – showcases “extraordinary fishing” as Cleave tries to break long-standing records at dangerous fishing spots around the world.
In addition, 2B Media is negotiating the series North Cops (10 x 30 minutes), which is billed as a “high adrenaline blue-light series in New Zealand’s far north.”
“Code 1 is a proven returning franchise, and Martin Cleave’s track record in producing internationally appealing fishing shows is unparalleled so we have high hopes for Grand Slam Fishing,” said Andreas Lemos, VP of acquisitions for Zodiak Rights London, in a statement.
“Beauty & The Beach is also a show we are very excited about, as Zodiak Rights has a proven track record globally in this space, and the combination of breath-taking locations, jaw-dropping body enhancement and a multi-national cast seems like a winning combination,” she continued. “We’re also excited at the prospect of working on the format with Martin and the group companies on local versions in the future.”
