Big Brother has a new boss in the UK.

Endemol Shine UK-owned producer Initial has named Denis O’Connor (pictured) as creative director of the long-running reality franchise, which includes the upcoming season hosted by Emma Willis, the spin-off Big Brother’s Bit on the Side with Rylan Clark as well as Celebrity Big Brother.

O’Connor has spent the past three years executive producing Big Brother and Celebrity Big Brother alongside Katy Manley and Susy Price. He also exec produced the final season that aired on Channel 4 in 2010 and before that worked as a producer for the live eviction shows on Channel 4.

His appointment is effective immediately and he will report to Initial managing director Nick Samwell-Smith.

Channel 5 recently renewed Big Brother for three years through 2018. The deal will see Initial produce two more seasons of Celebrity Big Brother, a yearly season of Big Brother  and associated programming. Both Big Brother  and Big Brother’s Bit on the Side are set to air on Channel 5 this summer.

O’Connor’s other exec producer and showrunner credits include BBC3′s Celebrity Scissorhands, Channel 4′s Home for the Holidays and BBC’s The Underdog Show.
