Hot Docs ’15: Dogwoof takes global rights to “Unbranded”

The UK distributor has picked up rights outside of North America for Phillip Baribeau's Unbranded (pictured) ahead of its world premiere at Hot Docs.

UK distributor Dogwoof has picked up global rights for doc feature Unbranded (pictured) ahead of its world premiere at the Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Festival.

The deal covers worldwide rights excluding North America. The film is also set to screen in this year’s Cannes Marche du Film market in May.

Directed by Phillip Baribeau, the film is based on a book about four friends–Ben Masters, Jonny Fitzsimons, Thomas Glover and Ben Thamer—who travel 3,000 miles on horseback from Mexico to Canada through the public lands of the American West. The five-month journey saw the men ride through desert, canyons and rocky hillsides in the Grand Canyon, Yellowstone and Glacier National Park.

Baribeau produced the film with Masters and Dennis Aig.

Cindy Meehl, who directed the 2011 film Buck, served as exec producer alongside John and Cami Goff, Jerry and Margaret Hodge and Doug and Anne Marie Bratton.
