Proper Rights picks up “It Happened Here”

Toronto-based distributor Proper Rights has picked up Lisa F. Jackson's doc about campus sexual assault, It Happened Here, for international distribution outside of the U.S.

Toronto-based distributor Proper Rights has picked up the international rights, outside of the U.S., for the campus sexual assault doc, It Happened Here.

The 1 x 90-minute film examines the issue through the stories of five students interviewed throughout, who say they experienced sexual assault on campus and were met with “apathy, disbelief, blame and retaliation” when they attempted to report the crime. However, rather than remaining silent, the students chose to continue their efforts to seek justice on campus and in federal court and found a way to create institutional change.

The film, directed by Lisa F. Jackson and produced by Marjorie Schwartz Nielsen for Neponsit Pictures, debuted on U.S. cable net Pivot in January. Cinedigm has North American home entertainment rights for the film.
