“Sexy Beasts” heads to China, South Korea

Broadcasters in China, South Korea and Lithuania have ordered local versions of the dating game show Sexy Beasts(pictured).

Created by Lion Television and distributed by All3Media International, the series requires contestants to appear in prosthetic masks while going on dates and participating in “getting to know you” activities. The goal is to find out if inner beauty trumps outer appearance.

In China, Tencent commissioned a 30 x one-hour season, which it will produce in-house; and Pan Media is producing a 13 x one-hour run for South Korea’s KBS. Lithuania’s TV3 has also greenlit a local version from Viasat Broadcasting.

Finally, MME Entertainment in Germany is producing a second season for broadcaster SIXX.

Lion Television produced the original version of the format for BBC3 in the UK.
