Michael Gara boards Karga 7 Pictures

Booze Traveler producer Karga 7 Pictures has named former Endemol Shine Group exec Michael Gara (pictured) as senior VP of programming.

Booze Traveler producer Karga 7 Pictures has named former Endemol Shine Group exec Michael Gara (pictured) as its senior VP of programming.

The exec previously served as VP of development at Endemol USA/Endemol Shine Group which he joined in 2012. During this period, Gara produced a number of projects for nets including AMC, CBS Syndication, NBC and E!, and his credits include the series Virgin Territory (MTV) and Bullseye (Fox).

Gara got his start in the industry with Barbra Streisand’s Barwood Films, and later moved on to the story departments of MTV, CBS, Fox and Discovery. In 2005, Gara joined Original Productions, where he was promoted to showrunner, and worked on the series Black Gold (truTV) and Ax Men (History). The exec went on to stints at Evolution Media and Shed Media, as well as Authentic Entertainment, where he exec produced Skunk Ape (Discovery) and Geek Love (TLC).

Karga 7 Pictures’ roster includes such titles as How Booze Built America (Discovery), Tornado Alley (The Weather Channel) and Futurescape and Alien Encounters (Science Channel).
