ITV Studios is set to launch an independent prodco under a new umbrella group with a host of former Objective Productions execs, ITV has confirmed.
The new indie, Cats on the Roof Media, will include Objective Productions’ managing director, Paul Sandler, creative director Adam Adler, head of entertainment Matt Crook, and will be headed by the UK-based TV prodco’s co-founder, Andrew O’Connor.
Cats on the Roof Media will incorporate a wing of companies that will direct a variety of content.
With a focus on formulating game shows, Adler will act as managing director for Gameface Productions, while Second Act Productions will build on Objective series such as Peep Show to produce scripted comedy. ITV Studios is currently in discussions with an unnamed creative lead for that business, according to a source with knowledge of the situation.
Crook’s existing shingle, Crook Productions (The Incredible Mr. Goodwin), will now be under the Cats on the Roof umbrella.
According to Broadcast, which first reported the story, Cats on the Roof Media’s board will include ITV Studios managing director Kevin Lygo and finance director David McGraynor. ITV Studios UK managing director Julian Bellamy will also hold a post on the board.
The deal follows last month’s completion of ITV’s acquisition of Dutch producer and The Voice creator Talpa Media. Recent reports also have ITV Studios set to acquire Twofour Group, a purchase that may be detailed by month’s end.
Objective Productions will continue with chief exec Andrew Newman and commercial and financial director Stuart Duthie at the helm, according to reports.
