U.S. net HGTV has signed on for a second season of furniture design series, Ellen’s Design Challenge (pictured).

Co-produced by DeGeneres’ A Very Good Production and A. Smith & Co., in association with Telepictures, the second season of the show – which bowed this past January – is to return in January 2016, and will jump from six to nine episodes including an hour-long, behind-the-scenes special.

The series was conceptualized by the comedian and challenges contestants to sketch, design and build creative furniture pieces. The winner receives US$100,000 as well as a feature in HGTV Magazine.

The new season will feature more competitors as well as special guests on the judging panel. Submissions are currently being accepted on the show’s official website.

Executive producers on Ellen’s Design Challenge include DeGeneres, A Very Good Production’s Jeff Kleeman, and A. Smith & Co.’s Arthur Smith and Kent Weed.
