Errol Morris to curate IDFA’s Top 10

As the International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam's special guest, the master documentarian will select this year's Top 10 program and give a masterclass on his choices and working methods.

The International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam (IDFA) has secured Errol Morris (pictured) as this year’s central guest.

The influential documentarian will curate the festival’s Top 10 program – which each year asks a filmmaker to present their personal doc highlights – and explain his choices and working methods in a masterclass.

IDFA will also present a retrospective of his films, which include doc classics such as The Thin Blue LineA Brief History of TimeFast, Cheap and Out of Control; and the Oscar-winning The Fog of War: Eleven Lessons from the Life of Robert S. McNamara.

Morris’ recent projects include a series of doc shorts on sports fanatics for ESPN and Grantland, and The Unknown Known, about former U.S. secretary of defense Donald Rumsfeld. He also served as executive producer on Joshua Oppenheimer’s The Act of Killing and The Look of Silence.

Past Top 10 programmers at IDFA include Werner Herzog, Heddy Honigmann, Rithy Panh, Ulrich Seidl and Krzysztof Kieslowski.

IDFA 2015 will take place in Amsterdam from November 18 to 29.
