In this week’s round-up, new series and specials are set to premiere for a range of networks including E!, Discovery Channel, Animal Planet, National Geographic Channel and TLC.
E! is set to premiere the sex-focused call-in talk show Sex With Brody (pictured), based on the podcast series The Brody Jenner & Dr. Mike Dow Podcast, on July 10 at 10:30 p.m. EST/PST.
Reality star and “sex enthusiast” Brody Jenner, who is the son of Keeping Up With the Kardashians and I Am Cait star Caitlyn Jenner, is to co-host the roundtable show alongside relationship therapist Mike Dow and comedian Stevie Ryan, and will kick off the season with guest panelist Christina Milian. Produced by Wilshire Studios, the four-episode series will also include special guests Joanna Krupa and April Rose with discussions touching on foreplay, online dating and other topics.
Elsewhere, U.S. net Animal Planet is set to highlight the daily rounds of Denver-based veterinarian Dr. Jeff Young in its latest docuseries, Dr. Jeff: Rocky Mountain Vet. Produced by DoubleAct, the program will chronicle Young as he provides medical assistance to the more than 8,000 clients and pets at his Planned Pethood Plus clinic. The 10-part series bows July 11 at 10 p.m. EST/PST.
The Renegade 83-produced Naked and Afraid XL will debut July 12 at 10 p.m. EST/PST on Discovery Channel. The series pits six women and six men – survivalists with their own expertise – in the remote equatorial jungle of Colombia in a 40-day endurance challenge.
Meanwhile, National Geographic Channel’s Mission Pluto is set to broadcast some of the first clear images and data ever recorded of the dwarf planet.
The Bigger Bang Communications-produced special – hosted by Brain Games‘ Jason Silva and launching across 170 countries on July 14 at 9 p.m. EST/PST – joins scientists at Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory and NASA on the historic mission to the edge of the solar system capturing never-before-seen footage of the planet. The special airs the same day the New Horizons spacecraft, which shot into orbit in 2006 on a three-billion-mile journey, is scheduled to make an estimated two-hour fly-by of the planet allowing scientists to map the surface, analyze the atmosphere, and examine the geology of the surface.
Finally, U.S. cable net TLC is set to air two new series on back-to-back nights.
My Giant Life, produced by Workaholic Productions, is will explore how the lives of four six-foot-plus tall women are impacted by their height. The series will broadcast July 14 at 10 p.m. EST/PST.
The proceeding night, meanwhile, will see the premiere of the anticipated reality series I Am Jazz: A Family Transition, starring transgender teen activist and YouTube personality Jazz Jennings. The 11-episode, This Is Just A Test-produced series will document the 14-year-old as she begins high school while struggling with health issues. The series premieres July 15 at 10 p.m. EST/PST.
