“Mythbusters” hosts’ Travel series to bow in August

U.S. net Travel Channel will premiere the series Thrill Factor on August 12 with back-to-back episodes.

The 10 x 30-minute show follows Mythbusters hosts Tory Belleci (pictured, left) and Kari Byron (right) as they delve into the engineering, biomechanics and physics that go into creating amusement park rides, waterslides, IndyCars and other adventure experiences.

In the first episode, the pair heads to Florida’s Busch Gardens to ride the Falcon’s Fury – the tallest freestanding ride in North America – and look into how drop rides are designed to exploit the fear of falling. In the second episode, they travel to Indiana to ride the Thunderbird rollercoaster and figure out if there are differences in the way men and women react to thrill rides.

The series is produced by Base Productions with John Brenkus and Murray Oden serving as executive producers. Doug Bailey is the executive producer for Travel.

Thrill Factor debuts on August 12 at 8 p.m. EST/PST.
