U.S. net GSN is getting a lift with the horror-themed game show Hellevator, which debuts on October 21.

The eight-episode series – produced by Matador and Blumhouse Productions in association with Lionsgate Television – pits contestants in a number of challenges from the set of an abandoned slaughterhouse. According to the net, the series continues its trend of “‘gamifying’ cultural trends.”

The game show finds a team of three riding a “haunted” elevator into various levels of the slaughterhouse. On each floor, one player is faced with a challenge in order to earn money for the team, but if they don’t make it back in time, the elevator moves on without them. Participants can earn up to US$50,000 by completing their challenges.

Hellevator hosts include horror film directors Jen and Sylvia Soska, also known as the “Twisted Twins,” who will influence events behind-the-scenes, “pulling the strings throughout the game.”

Executive producers on the show include Matador’s Jay Peterson and Todd Lubin, Shye Sutherland and Insidious producer Jason Blum.

Hellevator debuts on October 21 at 8 p.m. EST/PST.
