UK pubcaster BBC1 has ordered the educational consumer program Shop Well for Less? from Zodiak Media-owned producer RDF Television.

The 2 x 60-minute program will teach viewers how to spend wisely to maintain a reasonable, debt-free lifestyle.  It will be hosted by BBC Breakfast business correspondent Stephanie McGovern (pictured, left) and The One Show presenter Alex Jones (right).

The series aims to provide practical consumer spending advice and “top tricks of the trade for shopping more cleverly,” while attempting to reduce the undesirable expenditure habits of some viewers. The two-episode program will reveal expert analysis, investigative research and brand-swapping experiments.

The series builds on the successes of original budget-saving format Eat Well for Less?, which shows families how to eat well while spending less and is currently airing its second season on BBC1.

Jo Scarratt-Jones serves as executive producer for RDF Television West, with Julie Shaw series producing. BBC commissioning editor is Catherine Catton. BBC1 controller Charlotte Moore commissioned the two-part series.
