Red Arrow Int’l picks up ABC’s “Diet Wars”

Distributor Red Arrow International will shop the U.S. reality format Diet Wars ahead of its premiere on American broadcaster ABC in 2016.

The 8 x 60-minute program is produced for ABC by Red Arrow Entertainment Group-backed Kinetic Content – producers of FYI’s Married at First Sight - and New York-based Milojo Productions. The format is to be presented to buyers at next month’s MIPCOM market.

Diet Wars (the format’s international title) pairs six overweight participants with six diet experts who each espouse a unique weight-loss plan. Throughout the season, each plan will be tested, and the expert whose weight-loss regime sees the most successful results will receive nationwide recognition while the slimmed-down participant wins “an incredible, life-changing prize.”

“Our new format sets out to narrow the choice by selecting six diverse and revolutionary diet plans and, for the first time ever, testing these methods on TV in a real life experiment,” said Chris Coelen, CEO of Kinetic Content, in a statement.

Henrik Pabst, MD of Red Arrow International, added: “This show puts the power firmly in the hands of the contestants, and avoids the humiliating stunts and contests of other shows.”
