London-based producer-distributor Scorpion TV has added the BBC documentary Transsexual Stories to its catalog ahead of MIPCOM in Cannes next week.

Produced by Peachtree Films, exec produced by Andrew Abbott and directed by Benjie Bateman, the 59-minute program aired on BBC Scotland over the summer.

The film explores a range of issues affecting trans people through the lives five Scottish women who vary in age and are at different stages of transitioning. The oldest, Gladys, is a 77-year-old retired antiques dealer who underwent a sex change at age 69, and the youngest is 17-year-old Bee, who has just begun hormone therapy.

Transsexual Stories is among a spate of recent trans-themed unscripted programs that includes ABC Family’s Becoming Us, E!’s Caitlyn Jenner doc series I Am Cait and Discovery Life’s New Girls on the Block.
