Belgian free-to-air broadcaster VTM has acquired The Wishing Tree (pictured) from ITV-owned Talpa Media.

The deal marks the first international sale for the format, which launched earlier this month at Cannes’ MIPCOM market.

The series focuses on young children as they hang wishes for someone they believe deserves them on a “wishing tree.”

“In the current television landscape, viewers are in need of uplifting shows with a positive vibe. This works perfectly with our approach to emotainment shows like The Wishing Tree — moving formats that are able to touch viewers with their pure nature,” said Gepke Nederlof, head of global licensing at Talpa Global, in a statement.
