David Darg’s Body Team 12 (pictured) and Raúl de la Fuente’s Minerita are among the 10 doc shorts contending for Best Documentary Short Subject nominations at the 88th Academy Awards.
The 10 shortlisted films are presented below with their production companies. The Academy’s Documentary Branch culled this year’s group from 74 eligible entries. After the next round of voting, five will earn Oscar nominations.

Modifications to the Best Documentary Short Subject category in June saw an expansion in the number of films shortlisted for nominations voting from eight to 10 titles. Selected films also now vie for five fixed nominee slots rather than the previously fluctuating number of spots between three and five nominees.
Awards nominations will be announced live on January 14 at 8:30 a.m. EST/PST at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills, California. The Academy Awards will be held on February 28 in Hollywood, with the ceremony broadcast across ABC beginning at 7 p.m. EST/PST.
