Toronto-based production company Markham Street Films has upped Aaron Hancox to the newly created role of VP unscripted.

With the promotion, Hancox – who joined the company in 2010 as director, sales and development – will oversee Markham Street’s domestic and international documentary production, as well as develop the company’s factual slate across all media.

Hancox has a background in documentary filmmaking, winning the Best Short Documentary prize at the Montreal World Film Festival in 2007 for Cinema L’Amour, and producing Markham Street Films’ feature doc David & Me, which premiered at Hot Docs in 2014. His other production credits include docs Ice, Sweat and Tears and The Cholesterol Question.

Markham Street Films was founded in 2002 by Michael McNamara and Judy Holm. The company recently produced and distributed Daniel Perlmutter’s debut feature Big News from Grand Rock, which was released theatrically in Canada earlier this year.
