Extra: DRG links with Larks, Spiegel Wissen unpacks “Cargo”

DRG inks first-look deal with What Larks!
UK distributor DRG has inked a first-look deal with What Larks! Productions for exclusive worldwide distribution rights to the London-based producer’s factual content. The deal adds such titles as The Magic of Houdini with Alan Davies (pictured) to the slate of What Larks! content already represented by DRG, including Chocolate Perfection with Michel Roux and The First Master Chef: Michel Roux on Escoffier. What Larks! was formed in 2009 by Claire Whalley. Key factual titles include For Crying Out Loud with Jo Brand, Patisserie With Michel Roux and Queen Victoria’s Letters: A Monarch Unveiled with A.N. Wilson.

Germany’s Spiegel Wissen orders “Lethal Cargo” series
Autentic-owned channel Spiegel Wissen has ordered an investigative documentary series titled Lethal Cargo, exploring the trafficking and shipping of people, waste and weapons across the Mediterranean. The series is a copro between Millstream Films & Media and Autentic GmbH. The first episode, titled “Migrants,” draws on interviews with migrants and refugees from Gambia, Mali, Syria, Pakistan and Iraq, and travels to the main routes of the migrant crisis in Greece, Italy, Turkey and Hungary. Forthcoming episodes include “Toxic Waste,” “Weapons” and “Fortress Europe.” The series is distributed outside Italy and the UK by Autentic.
