UK indie Outline Productions and distributor DRG have formed a content partnership.

As part of the deal, DRG will contribute to a development fund to help the Health Freaks producer expand its original content and formats.

The Nice Group-owned distributor will also advise on the type of content developed to ensure it has legs internationally, while producers from Outline will give DRG insight on formats and programs that work in the UK market, with an eye to future expansion in the U.S. market.

Additionally, DRG will exclusively distribute Outline’s finished programs and formats, as well as select titles from its back catalog.

The news follows last week’s announcement that Channel 4 has commissioned Outline to produce a British version of the DRG-distributed Norwegian format Born On (pictured).

“It is essential that as the market consolidates, we embrace new models and ways of working to ensure continued access to the very best pipeline of content,” said DRG COO Richard Halliwell in a statement.

“We’ve got a slate of ideas currently in production and development on both sides of the Atlantic which I couldn’t be more excited about, and now it’s time to push to a new level,” added Laura Mansfield, Outline MD. “We feel that this collaboration and approach will enable production of ambitious projects across multiple territories.”

In the past, DRG has distributed Outline titles and formats such as Jo Frost: Extreme Parental Guidance. The producer’s credits also include Things We Won’t Say About Race That Are True, Britain’s Big Wildlife Revival and Fat Families.
