Discovery Communications-owned channel TLC has set a December air date for religious competition special Bible Bowl.

Produced by the LA- and London-based Znak & Jones, the two-hour documentary chronicles seven teams competing in a Cincinnati-based Bible trivia competition, in which thousands of opponents vie to win millions in scholarships.

The seven teams include the Whitesides, three sisters who placed second at the 2014 National Championship; the sister and brother team of the Johnsons, whose mother is a Bible Bowl Quizmaster; Hannah Hardman and Trey Mills, mentored by the most successful coach in Bible Bowl history; Reagan Haise, a child genius; Ishaan Singh, who suffers from speech impairments; Emily Gass, who is tipped to be this year’s front-runner; and the Wells, a family of 11 with five competitors.

Bible Bowl is slated to premiere December 28 at 8 p.m. EST/PST on TLC.
