C4 orders “Gogglebox” children’s spin-off

The UK broadcaster has ordered a child-focused spin-off of the popular series Gogglebox from All3Media-owned prodco Studio Lambert.

Channel 4 in the UK has ordered a child-focused spin-off of the popular series Gogglebox from All3Media-owned prodco Studio Lambert.

The 6 x 60-minute Gogglesprogs (pictured) will showcase children as they provide uninhibited and comical commentary on a range of TV programs and what they believe is happening in the world.

The series, which was commissioned by David Glover, C4′s head of specialist factual, will broadcast in 2016.

The series will follow in the footsteps of the one-hour Christmas special Gogglebox Kids, in which children provide their opinions on the year’s most memorable TV moments. The one-off will premiere on Channel 4 on Christmas Day at 8 p.m. GMT.

“There is something special about watching these children give their very different opinions in an utterly honest and ultimately hilarious way,” said executive producer Freya Sampson of the Christmas special in a statement. “The special is funny, heart-warming, and has the charm of the original Gogglebox series but the way the children interact gives it a different perspective which finds you both laughing and crying.”
