Montreal-based CMJ Productions II has hired former network exec and consultant Michael Katz (pictured) in the newly created role of senior development consultant.

Katz will assist the Natural Born Outlaws producer in expanding its factual slate by working on development alongside CMJ’s broadcast, broadband and distribution partners. The exec formerly worked as VP of programming and channel planning for A+E Networks International.

He will continue to run his media strategy firm, Michael Katz Media Consultancy.

Recruiting Katz is part of CMJ’s strategy to double its original productions during 2016. The company’s unscripted credits include Wheels That Fail, A Stranger in My Home and Fatal Vows.

“I have had great respect for Michael and the way he has conducted business during the many years I have known and worked with him,” said CMJ founder and CEO John Kuyk. “So when we decided to expand our original production activities it was an easy decision to bring Michael aboard.”
