Toronto-based distributor Proper Rights has secured a distribution deal with Canadian prodco Cream Productions to represent Justice for MLK: The Hunt for James Earl Ray (pictured) and The Civil War Chronicles internationally.

The previously announced two-hour special, Justice for MLK, which was produced in association with Absinthe Film Entertainment, will detail the final days of Dr. Martin Luther King by interweaving interviews with those closest to him and the investigation into his murder with exclusive photography and police dispatches.

The film will follow local, federal and international investigators as their search for shooter James Earl Ray takes them to Los Angeles, Memphis, Toronto and London. The doc is slated to premiere on Discovery Communications-owned net American Heroes Channel on January 17 at 9 p.m. EST/PST.

The tentatively titled 6 x 60-minute Civil War Chronicles, meanwhile, will document the key battles of the American Civil War, including Bull Run, Battle of Atlanta, Antietam, Chancellorsville, Petersburg and Gettysburg. The docuseries is currently in production.

Proper Rights also represents Cream’s Fear Thy NeighborEsther Extraordinaire, Sibling Rivalry, and Wild Things with Dominic Monaghan
