French channel RMC Découverte has commissioned a localized adaptation of automotive format Wheeler Dealers from Paris-based indie Pernel Media.

The original series, which was produced by British indie Attaboy TV for Discovery Channel UK (pictured), follows car enthusiast Mike Brewer and mechanic Edd China as they repair enthusiast vehicles on a budget and then sell it to a new owner. The series has run for 12 seasons across Discovery UK.

The 10 x 60-minute Wheeler Dealers France was commissioned by RMC Découverte’s Guenaelle Troly and Rodolphe Guignard and marks the first remake for the format. Samuel Kissous serves as executive producer for Pernel Media.

The series is the latest in a wave of international formats Pernel has adapted for French broadcasters, following M6′s The Undateables (Mon Partenaire Particulier), TF1′s Great British Menu (Le Meilleur Menu de France) and Direct8′s Dinner Date (‘L’Amour au Menu).

The producer was also recently commissioned for the Harry Eastwood-fronted culinary travel series Sinful Sweets on Cooking Channel in the U.S. and Food Network in the UK.
