Global factual smash Top Gear will see its first non-British co-host join the fold this May with the arrival of Friends and Episodes star Matt LeBlanc.
LeBlanc, a self-proclaimed “car nut,” has already appeared twice on the show in its previous incarnation and has also hosted a standalone special, Top Gear: The Races. He is joining the production of the new-look Top Gear immediately, and the BBC says additional co-hosts will be announced soon.
“Matt’s a lifelong fellow petrolhead and I’m thrilled he’s joining Top Gear,” said host Chris Evans in a statement. “Acting out our craziest car notions on screen is a dream job and I know we’ll both be debating some epic road trip ideas. We can’t wait to share what we’ve been up to on screen later this year.”
The series makes its return to BBC Two in the spring, while the Amazon Prime series featuring former presenters Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May might not appear until fall, according to reports.
