Former Fox Television Group exec Joe Earley (pictured) has been appointed president of the Santa Monica-based prodco The Jackal Group.

In the new role, Earley will be charged with oversight of all areas of the studio’s television, film, theater and digital divisions. He will report directly to company chairman and CEO Gail Berman.

The news comes months after Earley announced his decision to step down as COO at Fox Television Group after 21 years with the media conglomerate.

As COO for Fox Television Group, Earley oversaw the marketing and communications, digital, research, talent relations, scheduling and audience strategy at Fox Broadcasting Company. The exec also led strategic initiatives on development, production, marketing, business affairs and finance at sister division, 20th Century Fox Television.

Earley joined Fox in 1994 as a senior publicist and rose through the ranks to become COO of Fox Broadcasting Company, where he was responsible for all areas of the network, including development and programming.

Prior to Fox, Earley worked in HBO’s media relations department and began his career in production and development with producer Gale Anne Hurd.
