UK distributor All3Media International has sent the innovative blind date format Sexy Beasts (pictured) to Russia’s CTC Network.

The 24 x 30-minute format, which will launch across CTC Love later this month, will be produced locally by Zamaleev Productions.

The series – originally created by London-based prodco Lion Television for BBC3 – requires contestants to don Hollywood-style prosthetic masks while attending three blind dates. As they take part in activities that reveal their true personalities, the ultimate question is whether inner beauty can trump outer appearance.

The CTC deal is the latest in a wave of international adaptations that have seen the format localized in Korea by KBS, China by Tencent, Lithuania by TV3 and in the U.S. by A&E.

The series has also been picked up by such international broadcasters as Australia’s ABC, Belgium’s SBS and Sweden’s SVT, while Discovery has acquired the format for its Italian and Dutch channels.

Meanwhile, German broadcaster Sixx has commissioned a second season of the series from producer MME Entertainment.
