The Tribeca Film Festival has formed a partnership with video messaging platform Snapchat to launch ‘Tribeca Snapchat Shorts,’ an innovative program set to showcase storytelling through new technologies.

The short film program encourages U.S.-based mobile storytellers to use Snapchat to create a creative and comedic story, capped at 200 seconds, for a panel of celebrity judges that includes hip-hop producer DJ Khaled.

The program aims to spotlight the next generation of storytellers by providing mobile users with the opportunity to incorporate such essential filmmaking skills as storyboarding, scripting and casting with Snapchat’s mobile editing tools.

Jurors will select the top 10 shorts, which will then screen as part of the 15th annual Tribeca Film Festival in New York City. Winners may also be featured across Snapchat’s Discover channel.

Submissions for the program open on February 27 and close on March 8. Submission guidelines and contest rules can be found here.
