Scripps hires Hauser to head LatAm, Caribbean

Scripps Networks Interactive (SNI) has hired Eduardo Hauser (pictured) as MD of Latin America and the Caribbean.

In the new posting, Hauser will be charged with driving the strategy and daily operation of SNI’s businesses across Latin America, as well as distribution across the Caribbean. In addition, he will be charged with evaluating expansion opportunities throughout the region, including new network launches, joint ventures, and partnerships across multi-platform and distribution channels.

Reporting to Jim Samples, president of international, Hauser will be based in Miami when he joins the company on March 7.

Hauser currently serves as founder and managing partner of Hauser & Co., a specialized corporate development and investment firm focused in the fields of media, technology and education.

He has previously served as president of Cricket Media Group; founder and CEO of digital news aggregator DailyMe; VP of news and information at Venevision; executive VP of Latin America at AOL; and MD of Cisneros.

Hauser has been credited with having previously forged the partnership between Cisneros and AOL to launch AOL across the Latin American marketplace, while also playing a key role in developing the joint venture between Hughes Electronics, Cisneros, Mexico’s Multivision and Brazil’s Grupo Abril to launch DirecTV Latin America.

The exec is also credited with having helped develop the Spanish format Soy TED based on the TED Talks series.

“Eduardo’s extensive pan-regional media experience coupled with his astute vision and entrepreneurial spirit will position Scripps Networks well as we look to evolve and expand our business across Latin America,” said Samples in a statement.
