UK pubcaster Channel 4 is to air a Lion TV-produced documentary series on female recruits training for careers in the British Army.

Tentatively titled GI Janes, the three-parter is to follow the 14-week training period for 47 women between the ages of 17 and 32, who are training to survive combat on the frontline.

The series was filmed over 14 weeks at Pirbright Army Training Centre – the biggest training centre in the UK. The women take part in Phase 1 training in parallel with male recruits. and go through weapons, fieldcraft and fitness training.

GI Janes is directed by Alex Kohler, and exec produced by Nick Catliff. The series was commissioned for the pubcaster by Anna Miralis, commissioner of documentaries.
