TLC has set a premiere date for a five-episode reality series on friends who decide to get married.

On April 1, the Discovery-owned cable network will begin airing What If We Get Married?, a Magical Elves-produced series that follows two sets of friends who forgo traditional courtships and head straight to the altar.

The cast includes a professional soccer player who is in love with and wants to marry a friend of 14 years, and a divorced 38-year-old medical sales rep who decides to marry her friend with benefits – a ladies man who decides to get his life together after his mother is diagnosed with cancer.

The show asks whether the key to a successful marriage is sexual chemistry or friendship, and is the latest in a string of relationship-focused reality series with a social experiment angle. Last year, Bravo aired the series Friends to Lovers?, about friends who decide to enter into romantic relationships.

The series premieres on April 1 at 9:30 p.m. EST/8:30 p.m. CST.
