The European Documentary Network (EDN) has finalized its selection of 21 documentary projects slated to participate in the Docs in Thessaloniki pitching forum later this month, including Magnus Skatvold’s The Blue Code of Silence (pictured) and Joost Wynant’s Sideline.

The event, which consists of a five-day program running March 16 to 20, will allow directors to develop and reformat their projects, network and pitch their documentary to a panel of international financiers.

The forum’s outreach program, meanwhile, will offer filmmakers an opportunity to develop the film’s outreach strategy, optimize distribution plans and enhance audience engagement.

Commissioners, broadcasters and sales agents confirmed to date will include representatives from HBO Europe, ARTE GEIE, YLE, Britdoc, MDR/ARD, TVP, SVT, ERT, POV, Canal+, Rise and Shine World Sales and Films Transit.

Projects for the forum were selected from more than 100 submissions and will explore a range of topics, including a medical facility for the poor run by Greek volunteers; Northern Afghan women who attempt to find their place in society; an American robotics competition; and a backyard community soccer league run by immigrants.
