Abrams Artists Agency has elevated Alec Shankman (pictured) to the post of senior VP of alternative programming, digital media, licensing and branding.

Under Shankman’s leadership, the talent and literary agency has secured such non-scripted series as Travel Channel’s Ghost Adventures, National Geographic’s Wicked Tuna, Discovery’s Gold Rush and History Channel’s Mountain Men and Swamp People.

Shankman has also been responsible for building the outfit’s stable of big name celebrities in the digital space. In recent months, the firm has signed such digital stars as ThatSoJack, AndreasChoice, Brodie Smith, Ann Reardon, Jason Pinder and Jimmy DiResta.

Shankman first joined the Los Angeles office of Abrams Artists Agency in 2003, where he launched the alternative programming and digital media department, responsible for representing and packaging producers, TV series, web series and on-camera talent. He exited the company in 2009 to serve as the CEO of GotCast.com, an interactive casting site and social network for talent, and to launch marketing technology outfit MediaBlastr in 2010.

In 2014, Shankman would return to Abrams Artists Agency as head of alternative programming and digital media.
