Formatzone preps home makeover format Laurence of Suburbia 

UK-based producer and content syndicator Formatzone is launching a format with interior designer and The Apartment host Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen (pictured). The makeover series Laurence of Suburbia, which is in production for the UK’s Made TV, will launch at the MIPTV market in Cannes, France, next month. Llewelyn-Bowen will also be on hand along the Croisette to host this year’s MIPTV International Format Awards.  Llewelyn-Bowen has appeared on UK reality shows Changing Rooms and Popstar to Operastar but has become a breakout star in Asia as a judge on interior design reality series The Apartment, which attracts a weekly viewership of 120 million to pan-regional channel Star TV.

Participant recruits Bob Pilon to head up social impact

Producer Participant Media has named Bob Pilon as executive VP of social impact. Formerly the chief development officer for the Bono-co-founded advocacy organization The ONE Campaign, he will head up impact campaigns and movements related to causes aligned with the company’s mission. He will work with nonprofit, public and private sector partners, leaders across the Jeff Skoll Group, and Participant’s content development and marketing execs to drive social action. Pilon will report to CEO David Linde and COO Sam Neswick. Prior to joining ONE, Pilon held senior leadership positions at NGOs including Malaria No More, Thelonious Monk Institute and the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation.

Electus International promotes several global sales execs

Los Angeles-based Electus has promoted several execs within its global distribution arm, Electus International. Cyrus Farrokh is now senior VP and head of sales overseeing Scandinavia, Asia-Pacific, France and Italy, while Brad Jorgensen has been upped to senior VP and head of worldwide operations. Max Richards has been promoted to manager, sales and acquisitions and will cover Central and Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Africa; Paulette Bensussen is now head of Latin America distribution and production and will oversee sales in Latin America, Spain, Portugal and Israel. Finally, Nick Wang becomes director and will work on sales in the Middle East.
